The microphones are quite sensitive and it picked up some noise from handling and occasionally the speakers allowed the microphone to drift away while speaking. Oh, hi. My name is Sarah Doobie and my Ply name is Love. I'm from Truckucky, California.
I've been burning. This is I'm celebrating my 10th year.
10th year burning it.
Wow.
Uh so what impact has Burning Man had on your life?
Well, I believe it's really enriched my life for the better. This is a vortex of creativity, of challenges, of resilience, of
it's just so big. It's so amazing. Like last night, you went to one big sound camp right next door. another big sound camp
and just the art is huge. I really come here for the art. I love the beats also, but the art is
Is that what you keep coming back every year?
Yeah, 100%. I volunteer with the artery and give art tours and I love learning about the stories of the art and the artists. And
a lot of them are self-funded, so it's a big deal to create art, build it, put your heart and soul into it and then put it on a truck and ship it from all over the world. world.
Are you an artist here? I am an artist. Yes. Okay.
I'm a painter and I own an art gallery in truck.
Oh, okay. And have you always been a painter or Yeah.
Yeah. All my whole life.
Oh, wow. So, how has Birdie Man like affected your art? Like after attending for the first time, like what you come back with?
I love it. Inspiration for sure. Just like anything is possible, you know? It really opens up
the whole world is your oyster for sure. I mean, there's just so much colorful creativity and I love the fashion. I love the silliness. I love the runchiness.
It really suits me
but and I think that that's what brings me back
because it is difficult. It's not like that much of a vacation sometime. But I find that there's growth in that every year of of everything about it, the dust and the heat and the this and the that and the freaks, but also the beats and the energy and the love.
Do you do any of the regional events or any of that?
I don't. I don't. This is This is my This is my jam.
Well, you're truckucky. Like you're literally right up the road.
Totally.
Yeah. But I think there's uh like Tahoe Burners, right? I mean,
there's a big group. There's a community. I mean, this is a community, but there's a big group of course from San Francisco, but Truckucky and Tahoe Burners for sure. A couple Yes. couple pieces were out here from Truckucky and Tahoe this this year. The Love Tram. And then my friend Chicken put out three Viking stones.
Oh. Wow.
Wow.
And there's a lot of camps that are camp touch this. There's a lot of camps, camp awesome that are also trucky Tahoe area.
Yeah.
And so you see a lot of these people like back back home.
I do. I do. Yeah. We have a small community back there, but I burn solo. It's a solo thing for me because I just come in by myself. I don't have a camp
really.
And I like camping or
Yeah. Just open camping at K and 3:30.
Yeah. And I just I look at as a retreat. Like I just have my little cassita
and I can't I camp by myself out there. I come into the city, do all the art stuff. I do the beats, see some friends at camp, and then when I'm done, I go back to my little camp.
Wow.
Yeah,
that's that's pretty unique. I mean, uh
it's
I don't know cuz I think most people I've met, you know, they're like, "Oh, they they camp large camps."
Large camps. I do opposite.
I always kind of like a smaller kind of just like person.
It's just me.
Yeah.
Yeah. Now I have a friend named Playa Pete. He was actually one of the episodes from last year. Uh but you know he's always been part of a big camp and this year he's taken the time off and he's you know just the same thing just like the open camping.
Yeah.
Yeah. I think that there's beauty in a camp for sure. But then I think that sometimes you also don't do what you want to do because you're waiting for your camp members or someone's got to pee or you know what I mean a big group or someone wants to go to beach, someone wants to go to art.
I think that it's good to just do what you you want to do.
Mhm.
